High Frequency Tunable Sets – When our sensory perception collides with our biology

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Like a very high frequency tunable radio set, our ability to pick up and send energetically, instantaneously, to multiple people, within our Universe is advancing at a rapid pace. Our biology is struggling to keep up with our energetic tunability.

We expect human biology to stay the same. But like everything, our biology, and specifically, our neurology, is undergoing accelerated acceleration.

Kids (and adults) who spend hours a day gaming are increasing their twitch speed. Constant high frequency input of images and output of hand eye co-ordination require a highly specified neurological network. Even without the online gaming world, our entire world has become faster. All of us a juggling competing commitments, multitasking, texting/talking/driving/working online/offline. The demands on our neurology to co-ordinate all of these activities are extreme.

We also seem to have an increase in neurological disorders, such as autism in its various forms. ADD, ADHD…the list goes on. Some of these conditions are legitimate, many children are diagnosed because of laziness. Strangely, we insist that our child be special, but if special is not looking like well behaved and ‘normal’ we medicate at the drop of a hat.

On the subject of medication, we are all over medicated. Even if we do not take medication, if we eat meat we are ingesting very high levels of antibiotics, as well as other spooky substances. Not to mention the ingestion of all the various other nasties in our air (radiation fall-out from Japan, with measures being taken in other parts of the world that are worth being concerned about). The impending superbug is only a matter of time. We have sterilised ourselves off the charts, inviting the always changing world of microbes to adapt to all manner of antibiotics, so that in the future, the very diseases we had conquered will thrive again or in new super resistant forms.

In this constantly changing, constantly ‘stressed’ ecosystem, our sensory perceptual capabilities are developing off the charts. If we pause for a moment, we can tune into frequencies unavailable to most people 50 years ago. Science points to entanglement…that when we have two paired particles and we separate them, if we tickle one, the other will feel the same tickle instantaneously, even if the distance between the two particles is thousands of miles. No speed of light here. Instantaneous. Time and space become irrelevant. The wisdom traditions all say we are all one. Exactly what was meant by this is becoming increasingly undeniable. Chaos theory talks about a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil causing a storm in Asia. Bucky Fuller would say that all of us are tunable sets. Like a radio receiver, if we adjust the dials, we can pick up signals from around the world. The signals are already present, all that is missing is the tunable set. We are becoming high frequency tunable sets.

Some people are already developing skills in this area that make no sense to our empirical  world. Intuition is becoming a more common place term, but it is still not regarded with any seriousness in traditional leadership programs. It still exists in the ‘new age’ genre. Science is racing to keep up with the unexplainable, unmeasurable world of people with extraordinary tunable sets. Their skills and abilities are viewed as unreasonable, and irrational.

Even with the rapid upgrade of our neurology via over stimulation, our intellect and language, our biology and our awareness is unable to catch up with our ability to pick up all the frequencies we increasingly have access to. In revolt, our biology develops autism, ADD etc. Our energetic systems are colliding with our biology with catastrophic consequences.

Many people will not be able to make it across the chasm. All of us need to develop the physical and spiritual stamina to not only acknowledge the signals we are sensing, but to make sense of them and have the intellect and language to interpret them. And to create a shield when our systems are in overload. To turn off the tunable set at times. An integral life practice is critical.

Are you aware of becoming an increasingly powerful tunable set? How do you manage it? Do you have any thoughts to add to this?

Integrity in marketing

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

Posted on his Facebook page, this comment by Michael Richardson created a very significant and rich dialogue.

Okay, so I just decided to no longer prostitute my email address for “free stuff”. Everyone and her mother in the, cough, “spiritual community”, is putting on “Free Teleseminars or Calls” or some such bs. Well, it’s not free. My email address, a precious part of my “Digital Body”, has value and I’m not going to whore it out anymore. Period.

I was sitting into this rich conversation which I have enjoyed seeing unfold (thanks everyone and Michael for raising it to start with) while on my run in the forest this morning. As is my long term habit as a coach and systems thinker, I seek to get to the bedrock impulse behind things.  The underlying context of the current internet marketing game (and our historical advertising game) is based on the fundamentals of the operating system behind everything we do which is built in scarcity. ‘I am not enough, there is not enough, we are not enough. I need more, and more, and more…and then some more. I am not good enough unless I have this and this and this…more money, more time, more love, more success, more stuff, the next ipod, ipad, another car, another x…to be a best seller, or famous….the business needs more market share, more profit, more growth, and did I mention profit?’

For what purpose do we seek more?

We need to be ruthlessly honest with the deeper intention behind our actions? Is it to get email addresses to sell more stuff, make more money…?? Most of us, if we pause for just a few moments and ask this question, know when we are under the ‘spell’ of spin. When the words that are expressed are designed very specifically to catch us in their spell. However, when we measure value through a single lens of money..which translates into number of sales, number of email addresses, and comes from a basis of scarcity, never enough, to win someone has to lose…then our choices are limited to this very game. “Success’ looks like making tons of money and being famous, and the game is to be successful. If we roll the tape back to our most aligned intent, and declare that…for example…if to make a shit load of money and to be famous is your intent…then have the balls to declare it. “I want your email address so I can sell something to you. Help me become rich and famous. I am going to use you as a pawn in the game and funny enough, you are going to say yes to playing.” The paradox is of course, that if we have the depth of integrity to be this honest with ourselves and declare this is our intention, it almost immediately transcends in the self inquiry and we move beyond this. This game of scarcity, dressed in drag to look like success as defined above (so I can feel good enough, smart enough, have enough status) is actually the major game in town. And it stems from the very operating system in which we live and breath. Therefore, whether we be the conductors of the game or the pawns we are all playing in the same game and we need to take responsibility for that. That includes me.

However, if we really hold as our intent to be of deepest service and to invite people to play if it really is something that resonates deeply with them, and we do not use spin, seduction, ‘clever’ marketing, but rather hold as true that we have something of value to offer that may support your life, and our energetics of the invitation matches the energetics of our core intent (syzergy) then the right people will opt in, by conscious, clean, untainted choice. They will be sovereign to their choice. Because we are not driven by a deep instinct based in scarcity, because we truly see that the world is abundant in every dimension, there is no ‘need’ for spin. And that whole deal of making it scarce (deadline for special offer and other ploys and cons), and all the other ‘spins’ designed to make us buy, are all based on scarcity…. this one thing you are selling will give me what I am missing, and then, it will be the next thing, and then the next. As my friend Jerome says, we are like greedy little caterpillars eating up all of the leaves.

How do I know? Because I have been well and truly seduced, more than once. And I suspect that many of you have as well. And that we are truly over it, as a very small game. However, the game’s ground of being is scarcity. It’s time to invite a game built on abundance, gratitude, service and reverence to all and where the measure of value is not to the god money, but to a multitude of values, which may include money and profit and wellbeing, but not at the price of any person or thing including offering ‘consciousness and personal development’ to people through seducing them via covert means that appeals to what is unconscious in them.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this one…lets keep the dialogue open. And please point us to people who use integrity as the core of their invitation and offering. Two that I know of are Hiro Boga and Chris Guillebeau, as well as Michael Richardson,  the initiator of this stream of dialogue.

Small and large meltdowns….love and other catastrophes..

6 Foot Track, Trail Run, Blue Mountains, Australia,  2011

I have been running for 17 years. I started running to get fit after giving birth to my daughter. It has become a way of life. I have run close to 20 marathons around the world, and many ultra marathons. My favourite events are the trail ultra’s. Being out in the bush, totally focused on my very next step, and holding this focus for plus 5 hours. People ask what I think about. Rarely do I find myself thinking about anything outside of the immediacy of the needs of my body. It is a very cyclical internal conversation. Monitoring everything. Focusing on every step, for to lose focus for even a micro second means a potential trip, a fall, a sprain, an injury. Everything disappears for the time. It is you, your body, and the forest. I find great beauty in that. Life becomes so very simple.

Last year I ran the famous 6 Foot Track in the Blue Mountains outside of Sydney for the first time. I did not know much about it, I had no idea of the course, the hills. I just showed up, and ran. Often this is the best way. It is a pure adventure. A complete surprise. It was a great run. I felt the best I had felt in years. I did not find it hard at all. (Meaning, my body felt well, and strong, no nausea, cramping, difficulty, my movements seemed to flow. Yes, I did get muscle soreness, and it was hard to work the hills, but I felt good.)

This year…well…no experience is ever the same. Some runners go years seeking that moment where everything comes together. That was last year. This year I became aware very early on that something was not right. My quad’s (anterior thigh muscles) felt weak. Unbelievably weak. ‘Recovering from being bed ridden for a month’ weak. This is not good when you have 2,250 metres of vertical climbing (1.39 miles) ahead of you. I had never experienced this before. Not in 17 years of running. Ok.. I said to myself…this too may pass…just notice, let it go…send energy to my legs…For in a 45 km race (28 mile), feeling bad may turn to feeling good at any stage. And vice versa. It was hot, much hotter than last year. While the water stations were very regular, I was thirsty. I was not carrying water with me. Last year it was not necessary. Hmm. Lesson learned.

After the first major climb I knew my trouble was deepening. Not just weakness now, dizziness, wobbly on my feet. And already very slow. Not even half way into the race. Ugly. Tried to drink sports drink, eat some food, get some energy happening.

On Thursday night in Sydney I had met with my beautiful goddess friend Lindley. She has been guiding me on bringing my yin (female) energy into more balance. Running trails is more yin than road running, if you allow your body to breath with nature. But if you hunker down, and push past all intuitions, it reverts to a very yang form of running. I have been very strong in my yang energy for most of my life, in almost all aspects of my life. And in my running, other than the Kokoda Challenge last year, I have only ever pulled out of one event. I have pushed through stress fractures that became full breaks, extreme nausea, hyponatremia (Ironman NZ 1997), and all the other bad days at the running office. Never give up. Never quit. Grit your teeth and finish it. You could count on me to finish, no matter how long it took.

Last year at Kokoda I learned about pushing to collapse. I am wiser now. And older…I heard a voice in my head say…”you do not have to flog yourself any more Christine.” Oh heavens, what a relief. I don’t want to flog myself any more. I have nothing to prove, to me or anyone. I can stop. Surrender. Let go. There is no shame in that. Indeed, the opposite. There is a reverence for my body, and myself.

So when I started to get random intermittent cramps, something I never suffer from in my running, I knew I was in quite serious trouble physically. My body was in melt down. Those were the words that came to me. My cooling system was gone, my body electrics were all out of balance.

I have been thinking this morning that it is strange that these descriptive words are also the words being used to discuss the Japanese nuclear situation as a result of the earthquake and tsunami. On Friday late afternoon when I got to my accommodation in Katoomba I had learned of the Earthquake in Japan, watching, like most of the world, the images of the tsunami that were almost impossible to comprehend as real, and not crafted from some Hollywood blockbuster. Once again, I was crying, feeling so deeply the pain of the people, of earth, of loss. I have felt like I have been crying all of this year so far. The Queensland floods, so near to me, the cyclone, again in Queensland, the Earthquake in New Zealand, and now this. Lurching from disaster to disaster.

My own meltdown was of such insignificance in the scheme of things. However, I am getting that there really is no insignificant event, or thought, or action. As Caroline Myss writes in this very powerful article, we must start seeing and experiencing Mother Earth as a living breathing evolving entity in her own right. Not some static dead thing. When we go into the forest, the forest hears us. When we rape and pillage Earth, she experiences pain. When we are completely out of balance..when there is way more yang energy, then the balance must be restored. And given that Mother Earth has been around for a very long time, I suspect she has the wisdom to know how to restore the balance. However, it will come at a cost…the cost of our gross neglect. And the tragedy will be felt at the human level, as it is being felt now. The heartbreak of real loss of life.

I surrendered. I stopped running. While a part of me didn’t like it, I knew I had made the right decision. The one that honoured me and my health.

Instead I got to hang out with the wonderful volunteers of the Rural Fire Brigade. The 6 Foot track is one of the best run events I have ever attended. (It beats the Boston Marathon hands down.) The Rural Fire Brigade are an extraordinary group of people. I spent several hours in the back of a truck driven by Jack, 18 months retired from being in charge of the Blue Mountains Fire service. Jack signed up when he was 14, in 1953. He rode his horse 10 mile to a meeting, paid his shilling, and rode back home again. Sometime later he was offered a paid position, so, as he said, that 10 mile ride defined his life. As I heard later from John, the bus driver on the trip back from the finish line to Katoomba, Jack was loved by all in his role as leader. His people trusted him, and his skill and knowledge were masterful. Now retired he brought a Harley Davidson, and volunteered at the 6 Foot Event so he could meet up with all his mates. He is as Aussie as you can get.

Something opened in me this last weekend. I have noticed an increase in small miracles…little things…like needing a hair tie at the pool today and almost immediately looking down on the ground and finding one lying there. People being in the right place at the right time, offering to give me lifts, take me to the airport, or the train…

Having spent 50 years with a deeply held belief that life is hard, maybe in no longer being interested in flogging myself, I have released myself from the grip of those smothering tentacles. And in so doing, as Rumi says, life rolls in ecstasy at my feet. Or as Lindley said on Thursday, treat yourself as you would your very best friend. (Would you verbally beat your friend up if she made an innocent mistake? Would you have your friend push themselves into the danger zone just to suit you? Would you want your friend to suffer from overwork? Would you starve your friend for the sake of appearance? Or deny your friend of regular good sleep?)

I will keep running, for now. I may even be back for 6 Foot Track next year. But my intention has changed. I run to be in balance with all, to partner with my body, and nature. To flow with. This is where the joy is. This is where my heart sings.

And my meltdown. I have been in a meltdown for a few years now. My reactors (everything that makes me react instead of respond) are being/have been exposed, and they need cooling. I have sat in my anger, and my fear. Now it is time to be in my love, and be love. What a revolutionary, evolutionary thought.

Sending love to all the people in the world who are suffering. And to all the animals who are suffering. And to Mother Earth in her suffering. Lets stop flogging ourselves, and our world, and each other.

Drinking the Kool Aid

when scarcity IS our operating system

In the past few months I have been attuned to a yearning I feel, both inside me and that I sense in many other people. I would love to hear if what I am experiencing resonates with you at all.

My sense is that many people know, at a deep soul level, without having the right words to be able to explain it, that our way of giving and receiving value in the world is fundamentally and irretrievably flawed. Our model for money, exchange, banking, debt, credit, capital, what has value and what does not have value; the foundations of our economic system, are keeping us stuck in the very broken patterns and system we long to escape from.

Some people/companies feel they have ‘cracked the code’, but on closer examination, all they have done is found a new ‘smart’ path into a system that is already broken.
When I hear people talk about money and success, they speak entirely in the old language, animating once again a system that is designed to do exactly what is now going on. A very wealthy club for the few, and decreasing returns for the majority. Galloping inflation, increasing cost of living, food scarcity…..

We are so blind to this, and have accepted the status quo on this to such an extent that very few people question it. They just keep seeking ways to crack the code, thinking when they have that they have somehow found the keys to the kingdom. All they have done is drunk another version of the kool aid.

The keys to the kingdom are in another room entirely. Most of us have been tapping, banging, trying to break down the wrong door. In fact, very few people I know on this planet actually understand the very system that conducts our life. And that would include me. I have often used the metaphor that if our economic/value/exchange system was a language, most people cannot count to 10. After studying it for several years, I am lucky if I can count to 20. I am sure that the leaders of our governments would have trouble counting to 20. A very few bankers might be able to get to 30. Seriously, how scary is this…decisions are being made by people who really have no clue!! (well are we really surprised?) Our business ‘moguls’ are certainly not fluent in the language, but instead have spent their time becoming fluent in how to have the system work for them, at the cost of others. For indeed, our economic system has as its operating principle, scarcity…which means, in order for someone to win, someone has to lose. And that is the game we have all been playing, day in day out, whether we like it or not, whether we know it or not…although now to not know it means that we have to be in complete denial that the children starving around the world, or being forced into prostitution, has anything to do with us. Sorry people, no pass…it has everything to do with us. Our wealth comes at the price of their hunger.

Scarcity is the root of our work/life. Built with intention into the system that we use every day. How scary is that? Our whole lives are built on a platform of intentional scarcity! It is no wonder the fear factor in human beings is going through the roof, rampant depression, suicide, and all the myriad side effects of stress and rabid fear.

Several years ago, as I increasingly realised that we are the fish in the water and that the water is polluted, yet no one questions the water, I decided to find out who on the planet is fluent in our current system, or at least has a high degree of fluency, and of these people, who ALSO has a high egoless intention to support the creation of a healthy system that supports all of humanity to survive with dignity, and to thrive.

I confess part of my motivation was a yearning to gain understanding of this myself, so I could make different choices in how I work and play. And the other part of my impulse behind this was the sense that many others feel as I do.

You guessed it…I have not found many people. One of these people is now part of The Constellation. David Martin. Please check out his weekly blog. Caution, David is not an easy read. You need to persevere. However, his thinking will challenge you. David has designed an integral accounting platform that considers value in 6 domains. When working with Dave, the practice becomes thinking in at least these 6 domains about pretty much everything. It is a really trippy mind warp. Yep…in the practice you simply have to start seeing things differently. An indeed, for anyone really committed to a new value mechanism, we must begin to recognise just how entangled we are in the tentacles of our current system. The other person I have met is Bernard Lietaer.  Bernard’s expertise is around complementary currency. He and David have different pieces of the puzzle, both important. I will also reference my great teacher, R.Buckminster Fuller. Bucky wrote about our current system extensively. In 1983, he even predicted the coming ‘bail-outs’, using this exact language.

In their own way, these three are mystics. They understand the energetics behind money, and our economic system.

David has also crafted a new model which he calls the Fusion model. When I first saw it, it was like seeing something I already knew but did not have the words to explain. It encompassed everything that was intrinsically right, respectful, honouring, in a way of adding value to the world.

In plain English, what all of this means is the creation of a economic system, able to be used in parallel to our current model, that allows people to create ‘enoughness’ through their own work, and in so doing, allows for the respect, care, and dignity of all of life.

Today as small group of us are working to create ways we can bring all of this knowledge to the people who are yearning for it. Plus to create platforms that allow people from around the world to live and work in a way that embraces what Bucky would call natural design, what Joseph Campbell would call following your bliss, and in so doing create enoughness, and lives that are built on a platform of abundance, respect, care, dignity, and love. Sounds like pie in the sky? Not at all. Nature has been doing this for ever.

But first, we have to get that we are drinking the Kool aid.

Would love to hear your thoughts. And let me know if this exploration is something that interests you? Would you like to really understand our current system so you can make a different choice? Would you be interested in explore the alternatives? Have you felt that the value you have to offer the world is never honoured because you are not a marketing genius, or you don’t know how to work ‘the system’? Ask me questions, tell me what you want to know…

Why “Conscious” Businesses Collapse

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

We are entering a new era, whether we like it or not. People are seeking new ways of being in relationship to each other, whether that relationship is in business, at work, in our service to, in our home, family and friends. However, the path forwards is completely unchartered. There is no model, no outstanding example.

As an observer learner, I am watching many companies who tout that they are conscious fall into a messy heap that is the result of the very same transformations they teach/pro-port to be transcending, manifesting in their own business, relationships and engagements. The outside might look beautiful and glossy, but inside is a stink hole of incongruence.

Why is this? What is going on?

First, it is important to be clear that we are literally operating between two worlds. The world of the old system, where everything is built around a model of eternal growth, money making, success at all costs, status as measured by your external success, the accumulation of stuff, staff, lists, names, how many books you have written, how many this and that. The endless pull of never enough… This world is seductive, attractive, egophrenic. Like the beautiful siren, it calls us into a trance like state where all of our original impulses are lost. We are so saturated in this world we simply cannot see the extent to which it en-amours us.

And the world we are moving towards, where there is a deep abiding respect (reverence) for the value of people, nature, the environment, in all its shapes and sizes. Where the recognition of abundance is a guiding principle. Where reverence as a business practice is the norm. Where what is said, is what is done; inside, outside, within the individual and within the group. Where the choice to move to mastery is a daily practice. Where there is no “there” that is reached, but a deep respect and love for the journey unfolding. Where living in the space of emergence, not knowing what is coming next, or how it will look, is held as normal, and people move within this without the paralysing fear and contraction of needing the security of knowing. Where value that makes a healthy contribution to the whole is respected and honoured, as value. (And activities that contribute nothing to the whole are seen for what they are, scams.)

Yesterday I was describing to my partners in The Constellation that I felt like the cartoon character with one foot on one cliff, and the other foot on the cliff on the other side, and a very large chasm between both legs, my legs in a full split, sweat rolling off my face….between these two worlds, holding tight, feeling the pull of both, needing to take a complete step into the new world…trying desperately to straddle both. I am not alone…many people I suspect feel the same. Straddling between these two worlds.

Why do businesses that set out with the best of intentions, end up in a mess?

What is the original impulse to start the business in the first place? Lets get clear about that. If it is to make money, own it. Nothing wrong with that, except when you project to the world that you are doing something else. In other words, be in total truth around that original impulse. Anchor into it. Choose to describe it carefully, as the words you choose will carry with them their own energetics. Your original impulse, if it is clearly articulated and truthful, will energize you. If you are seeking to create a conscious business, then your original impulse will be about service to others, or things outside of your self. If this is not it, then be clear about what it is you hold as the intent. (Becoming famous, making money, getting status, winning the prize, teaching people a lesson….be honest about this, OK?)

If your business has been going for some time and is starting to go pear shaped, then take a weekend off and get together with your foundation team and get back in touch with the original impulse. Get deeply in touch with it. Including the stuff that you have tried to keep hidden, like…”oh and by the way, I would like to show all those jerks you said I would amount to nothing, that they were wrong.” Name it all. Own it all.

Until you have total aligned clarity around your original impulse and it totally rocks your world, your business is likely to implode.

What commonly happens is a company starts with this original impulse/intent, and then if and when the ‘goody bag’ shows up, full of all the sirens of the old world, money, fame, success, ego, long email lists..etc….and through micro agreements, called little atrocities, negotiations are made with that original impulse…nano-bit by nano-bit. Its called seduction, temptation…and before we know it, we are under a spell, completely disconnected from the truth of why we started the business, completely in denial as to what is going on within the business, now enacting the very same behaviours we are teaching the outside world not to do. It no longer becomes about how we can serve the world with our work, it becomes about some other distraction from the original impulse..like.. list building, where we offer this for free, but we need your email address first…or we write long one page shpeal to people using very seductive language that sucks people into pressing the ‘buy’ button. Oh, and don’t forget that they are getting $976 worth of value for just $99! (Even if the product being sold is great, it is tainted with the energy of con and seduction.) Integrity and transparency are lost…it has been reduced to a seductive con.

Or…we make the original model we co-created, the ‘this model’, or the ‘that model’, the God, and forget that life is about constant emergence, constant change, and we are now operating our business as a closed system within a fully emergent dynamic Universe. Our way is the right way, and we reduce ourselves to an ‘ism’. Unless you buy/use/live by this model, you are dead/ineffective/not in the club…And in the process, we forget that in a truly integral world, there is never one model, one view, one way. The old model seeks speciality and niches, the new demands being a comprehensivist..or as Bucky Fuller would say, starting with the Universe first.

Or…we make the founder of the business, Guru X. The all knowing, all egoic, “I have all the answers” King of the World. In this space there is no listening, no humility, no openness to other levels of genius from the ‘lowest of the low’, or anyone else for that matter.

And sometimes it is all of these toxic seductions combined..and more..

Then…. poof!!…implosion…something that had the potential to be truly transcendent has gone….literally imploded onto itself.

So tragic…very common. And what is left…people still seeking a place to work and play where the original impulse is honoured, where truth is Truth, and what is said is done, and reverence is afforded all parties, internally and externally….the longing to find a space and place for that to be truly the ground of the business.

People are hungry for this, longing for this…and while here needs to be a clear declaration that in the manifestation of this in the world, perfection will not be achieved, perfection as a goal is imperfect. Instead, the business will remain in an honest, open, integrous dialogue with all stakeholders, holding the original impulse as sacrosanct, for as long as it serves all stakeholders, really willing to invite wisdom from all domains, and to continue to embody every aspect of what the business stands for, internally and externally.

To do this is not easy. It takes commitment and investment of the highest order. It takes making choices that refuse to compromise the core DNA of the original impulse. Clarity, courage and integrity. Rigor, reverence and wisdom. And love.

Please share your experience and insight into why ‘Conscious’ Businesses collapse. I would love to explore this topic with you.

The Indomitable Human Spirit

The human side of the Queensland Floods

Lucky me. I live on the Gold Coast, in South East Queensland, Australia. It is a beautiful place to live, not big enough to be a city but not too small to be a town. 40 km of beautiful beaches. Fabulous weather, outdoor lifestyle, 1 hour to the nearest city, Brisbane, and 1 hour by plane to Sydney.

It is also currently `life as usual` while all around us the most horrific destruction is in the process of being cleaned up. Unless you have been under a rock, you will know that Australia, particularly Queensland, has been hit by devastational floods, and an inland ‘tsunami’. This time last week, as the rain kept coming down, an event of biblical proportions was in its warm-up phase. Monday afternoon the inland tsunami hit Toowoomba, a peaceful little town at the top of a range overlooking the capital city,  Brisbane. The water proceeded to flow down the range into the valley below. The first warning in one community that there was serious trouble was when a house literally flowed onto the local pub. These communities did not have any warning of the sudden and unforgiving act of nature that has devastated their lives. On Wednesday morning Brisbane city went under. 36,000 homes have been affected. The Brisbane CBD shut down for 5 days. 20 people are confirmed dead, with at least 10 more expected. A visit to my local supermarket today shows rows of empty shelves, hardly any fresh produce.

Queensland has been considered by the southern states of Australia, particularly New South Wales (the state that is home to Sydney), and Victoria (capital, Melbourne) to be a bit of a cultural backwash. The rivalry between Queensland and New South Wales around a football code is of epic proportions. Each year there is a 3 match, “State of Origin”, a true clash of the titans. Yet South East Queensland is the fastest growing area in Australia. Why? Because it is a ‘bloody great place to live’, as us Aussies would say. Weather, lifestyle, affordability.

And now we are on the map not only for the major disaster, but for the response to the disaster, which has left anyone either involved or observing with a deep sense of pride and awe at the nature of the human spirit when pushed to the wall.

By Friday last week the clean up was in full swing. On Saturday and Sunday thousands of people volunteered to spend the day is stinking mud and the ruins of people’s lives, lending a hand. Total strangers cleaned out the destroyed homes of thousands of people. The Twittersphere was the nerve centre for requests for water, food, volunteers, and the place that allowed an army of mum’s and kids to bake food for the people who had lost everything, and the people that came to their aid to salvage something.

By Monday most of the hard clean up work was done. Now it was up to the trade workers, builders, electricians, and plumbers to come in. 3 days to get rid of the personal effects of so many households. And to get this rubbish pile off the streets. And to open streets, and restore electricity to as many homes as possible. 3 days the ‘mud army’ pitched in.

It was the most remarkable experience of human generosity and contribution many of us have ever witnessed. And it still goes on.

With out a doubt, part of this incredible effort was supported by a group of leaders in public office who rose to the extreme challenge of leadership in the midst of disaster. 75% of the State of Queensland had already been affected by flooding post New Year. The South East Queensland floods were round two. A few towns went under twice within two weeks.

The State premier, Anna Bligh, rose, like a phoenix out of the ashes. Prior to this event, she was an unpopular Premier. But few could fault her leadership through this disaster. From Tuesday morning she was on air every two hours, with clear and comprehensive information, spoken with a very human touch. There was a steady and reliable flow of information, and a real sense that the logistics of disaster management where well in hand. We, the public, got to experience an Anna that was a resident of Brisbane first, and Premier second.

Several years ago, when some of my large corporate clients announced that they were cutting staff by 2000 in the next six months, they handled the human aspect of this very poorly. Imagine going to work each day not knowing if you would find out you did not have a job. And having that status continue for 6 months! Very little communication, very little update. I told the leaders I was working with that no matter if they did not have any more information, they still needed to report each day, and speak to the concerns and fears of their people. Speaking of no news is far better than being silent. In times of crisis, people need more news, or even more communication that there is no new news. They want to know that someone is there for them. And they want to be reassured that their leaders are thinking of them, and intent on keeping them informed, especially when there is nothing to inform them of. Silence allows our minds to make things up. A report of no news, delivered in a compassionate way, helps our thoughts from running amuck.

Anna Bligh did an exceptional job of keeping people informed. Not just with information, but with human spirit and heart. We felt she was there for us. Not in an official capacity, but as an inspirational leader.

Social networking tools played their part. #qldfloods provided a constant stream of information. Facebook pages were set up for news, for volunteers, for the care of animals. Many initiatives were generated on the ground by people with no public office. The whole impulse was very simple, “What can I do to help?”

While mother nature had unleashed her vengeance, human nature transcended. People took what they had in abundance, their time, their energy, their ability, their leadership, their creativity, their skills, and simply offered them where needed the most.

As an avid reader of politics, economics, geopolitics, it is hard to avoid the comparison of the Queensland response to the one in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. While I was not on the ground in New Orleans, I did, like most of the world, stay tuned to its unfolding drama. Comparatively, I would say that the response in New Orleans was of the nature of a very poor developing country without strong and able leadership. This makes me very sad. America was once a great nation.

Now as we go about the rebuild, we have the opportunity to speak into the future of what we rebuild and how. Continuing to surf the amazing human spirit that responded to this disaster, Queensland can rebuild in a way that affirms everything that most of us know is possible. Spaces and places and infrastructure that invites the best of us, the best of mother nature. We have the opportunity in this moment to rebuild a state that models all that the future is demanding of us and invites the best of human design and know how.

Let Queensland be a Phoenix in every sense of the word.

Game Change

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Back in 1986 I attended a personal development workshop called Money and You. The facilitator was Robert Kiyosaki. (Author of the Rich Dad Poor Dad series). The driving impulse to attend was a desire to make more money. I suspect I also wanted to understand the money system, as curiosity has been one of my main values. The experience was life changing, but not for the reasons I anticipated. For the next eight years I was involved with Excellerated Learning, the company behind Money and You. I attended all of their events, and volunteered as a logistics person for many more. It was a very large part of my life. I made some of my best friends through this experience, people I still connect with today. I was introduced to the work of Buckminster Fuller, who has become my number one mentor, a role he still holds 25 years later.

Each year I attended the Global Leaders Program, which was an annual event held in the first week in January on the big island of Hawaii. One of these seven day events was dedicated to studying Bucky, using the video recording made of him delivering 21 hours of his life’s work just before he died.

Most times I love Bucky and his dignity, courage and breadth of work. Sometimes his principles, principles I hold dear to my own life, drive me nuts. They challenge the heck out of me.

We ‘emerge through emergency’…honestly Bucky, sometimes I would like to emerge through luxury and abundance. I am over the seat of the pants stuff.

Or..

“We either make money or we make sense, because the two are mutually exclusive.” Boy have I sat with that one for years…still trying to figure it out…

And the cornerstone to my life…on integrity…to do what is spontaneously arousable from within you for the highest good for the highest number of people….

Interestingly, while I did learn how to ‘make money’ I chose not to. The methods of doing this never rocked my world. To make money for the sake of making money never made sense to me. Where was my passion in that, my life force energy? The score was not enough. While there was a part of me that yearned for the stuff..houses, clothes, travel, fine dining…the yearning was not as strong as the yearning to uncover/discover the way I was designed to express myself in the world and in doing so, add my unique value.

In October 2006 I was in the USA. In the space of one week two significant events occurred. I was introduced to Bernard Lietaer by my friend and colleague, Christopher Cooke. During this conversation Bernard, a world renowned economist and a Jungian Analyst, explained his concurrent currency, the terra. My jaw hit the floor when it became apparent that by introducing this currency people would shift their thinking and actions from short term to long term in a blink of an eye…and all based on greed. In other words, they would increase their ‘wealth’ by thinking long term. Why did my jaw hit the floor…in my world of work, I work with human behaviour change. I have trouble getting people to change the way they brush their teeth, yet alone make large scale changes such as switching to long term thinking! I left this conversation with my head spinning.

About a week later I was running in St Louis, listening to audio on my ipod. I listen to hours of audio, interviews, lectures etc. This day I heard from a guy by the name of David Martin, now a member of our team in The Constellation. David is a very powerful speaker and story teller. He described, not as a prediction, but as a series of events that were falling due, the entire global economic crisis. (Remember this was late 2006).

From these two events I left the USA realising my understanding of the global economic system was very poor. I was determined to become educated. For the past four years I have read books on the economy and articles on global events and the economy, with a great commitment to learning. I also went back to Bucky’s work on the global economy, work I had previously dismissed as being too much like conspiracy theories. Re-reading Bucky’s ‘Grunch Of Giants,’ and the other material, I came to the recognition that I was still very far from understanding the global economic system.

Here is how I describe it….If the global economic system was a language, like Mandarin, I am probably able to count to ten fluently. (My understanding of the system is enough for me to count to ten, even after all of these years of diligent study.) Most people in the world probably can count to one, two or three. The leader of Australia would be lucky to be able to count to ten, Obama may be able to count, but he cannot speak the whole language. Indeed, I gestimate that about 1% of the population speaks the language of the global economic system fluently. (As in they really understand it completely.) Of this 1%, the majority of these people have an invested interest in keeping the rest of the world in the dark.

The very scary aspect of this is that people are making decisions about the future of humanity  without understanding the very system that it is based upon. Also, many people are out there working at solutions without even beginning to understand the current reality. From a medical point of view, this would be like prescribing a medication, or surgery, without knowing the diagnosis.

Over the last year an idea has started to incubate. I have become aware that for the last 25 years one of the consistent threads in my life has been around understanding the global economic/value system. Further, I now know three people who do understand the system, while simultaneously also having the wisdom and integrity to want to bring light to this system for the good of all humanity, and not just a select few. Two of these people I have so far engaged in my idea.

In the last few months, my idea has begun to germinate. I sat down with a clean sheet of paper and asked myself what is the ONE thing that I would choose to do that animates me more than any other thing AND would meet the conditions Bucky set…to do the highest good for the highest number of people. There is no question that my ‘idea’ is that one thing.

Here is my seed idea. ( I identify it as a seed idea because great ideas are supposed to grow and emerge, and in the process change form. I am not attached to the form of the idea, but to the intention behind it.)

The Intention

First, to bring light to the current reality of the global economic system, and secondly, in so doing with exquisite care and wisdom, to support the crafting and co-creation of new models that honour the value and contribution of people, the environment, the future, communities, enterprise, and all the subsequent field effects, and for generations hence.

How?

Initially to bring a small group of people together for five days, including the three people I know who understand this system, plus a few other people such as a cell biologist, and a master game designer. This conversation will address the following questions.

What do we create, to be delivered to whom, how, and at what effect?

And then to create the first prototype.

Intrinsic in the design must be the awareness of the field effect of this offering. For example, if everyone in the USA/Australia understood the current economic system tomorrow, what would happen?

I believe we would have a revolution, blood on the streets, violence, mayhem, massive stock losses, etc. We would also have serious depression, denial, and a bunch of people focused entirely on capitalising on the situation through greed and blind opportunistic tendencies.

The question what we do create and delivered to whom is one requiring wisdom and deep consideration. How we manage the roll out and ongoing effects is also critical.

What I see, which is subject to evolve, is the creation of a three day experiential game. Specifically, what I mean by experiential, is that at the completion of the game, participants would leave with an embodied, not just an intellectual, understanding of the system.

I see a large space with a map of the world on the floor, and different forms of trading etc going on. People to people, country to country. However, I am very clear that I can only count to 10, so I am not the intelligence behind the game. I am clear that I am the engine room. I have the commitment, energy and passion to drive this project and hold the space for it to emerge.

I also see that we invite about 20 students from around the world to apply to participate in the first game, with the other invited participants. These students would participate at no charge, with the understanding they would return to other games as volunteer logistics support. By repeating the game, even as a logistics person, their learning would deepen.

I see that the initial participants would be thoughtfully selected and invited. Who are the people in the world who are critical acupuncture points for this kind of embodied knowledge? They must also have wisdom and deep respect for the integrity of this knowledge.

A Round Two game would be created for past participants to reconvene to now play for solutions. These solutions may be small in origin but large in effect, they may be concurrent to the current system, like Bernard’s Terra, or they may involve whole system change. We cannot know what will emerge until the wisdom is invited into the game.

Genius can arise from an environment where we start with Universe- when we know exactly what we are dealing with.

Why do I see this as the biggest game of all?

The world has some unquestionably serious issues to address. Climate change, peak oil, energy, population growth, food security, health, water, poverty, for example.

The connector in all of these is our value system. The global economic system. If we do not really understand this system, its shadow and light, then any change is not a real change…we are simply moving deck chairs around on the Titanic.

Why is it that masters of making money from money, without adding any true value to the world, get paid obscene fee’s, while the person teaching our children get paid next to nothing? Why are our measures so narrow? When will be start to include the all in cost of our actions. The cost to the environment, to communities, to the future? Plus the love economy…all the unpaid work that has not been considered ‘of value’. Is it acceptable that our superannuation funds grow because the companies making profit are exploiting both environment and communities in remote regions of the world, so we can have a happy retirement?

I have a sense that all of my years of work, exploration, heart ache, searching, kissing frogs…has lead to this point. This is what I am here to do.

What happens next?

Specifically I need a philanthropist or benefactor (or several) who is as inspired by this vision as I am and wants to see it get off the ground. I need funding to create the initial gathering, plus funding to keep my bills paid while I do this. I have never sort this kind of support before. Long term readers will know that my belief system has been built on supporting myself in entirety. The last few blogs have indicated the journey I am on. Invoking the feminine, allowing, working with co-creation, inviting support in the form of finances from others without having to ‘earn a living’. (Still based on bringing value, because I could no more not work as not breath.)

As my dear friend Pauline said, imagine how much I could do if I did not need to worry about earning a living, and could get on with creating these kinds of global artifacts that will add value to all. This is where my energy is. Circling back to Bucky, his principle was based on committing to do what was spontaneously arousable from within you for the highest good for all. I have recognised that I have not been doing this in full integrity. I have been working on earning a living. And even while I have loved my work, it has been animated from the need to earn a living as a prime motivator. This default need has kept me playing small. It has been, in its own strange way, my own security blanket. As I enter my fiftieth year it is time for me to play the biggest game I can find, to use all of my hard earned skills and talents, to bring my energy, passion and ‘can do’ attitude to this project and the other extraordinary projects The Constellation are working on.

I do actually see that the Game will be profitable. However, I am clear that I am the engine, and when we gather to bring this to life, we have to allow what needs to emerge to emerge. Therefore, the initial seed funding needs to be based on the possibility of zero financial return. Major social and world future return would have to be enough for the philanthropic investment.

In the mean time, I am continuing to animate this. I am working with my team from The Constellation, plus consulting with the people who have the knowledge to make this work. We are discussing who to invite to the first meeting to get this built. Who needs to be there?

Where there is clear intention, high commitment, super energy and intrinsic animation, water part.

Let me know your thoughts on any of this…and if you know of anyone, or can help, let me know.

Crisis? What crisis?

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

As a student of history (and I mean a home grown student, not a graduate of any school of history), it occurs to me that there have been many times in the history of Universe, and specifically in the history of human kind in Universe, when we have been faced with unprecedented crises that portended the end of life as we know it.

Currently we have the impending event of 2012.  Whatever this date holds, it correlates with  the other major issues such as the  converging crises of the economy, the environment and peak oil.

Yet I wonder what it felt like in 1941/42/43/44 for millions of people around the world? Did this not seem like the end of the world? Son’s and daughters dying in strange places, the threat of take over of nations by Germans or Japanese, (not to mention how life was experienced by the Japanese and Germans) rationing, bombing, fear 24/7. I cannot imagine it, but I could imagine that it was very scary.

Then the cold war, and the constant fear of nuclear annihilation. Children trained at schools to ‘duck for cover!’

We can wind back the clock to many points in history and find apocalyptic events. How would life have been when the black plague was killing millions? Or when the inquisition was in full assault? Some estimate up to 6 million women and girls were killed over a period of history for being witches! (using intuition, herbs to heal, regular women’s stuff.. etc)

I am not saying we are in unprecedented times. Each crisis is unique. However, it seems to me that in each critical period there is an egoic response that owns the crisis as being the very biggest, most serious of all of histories crises.

If we truly believe we live in an evolving, emergent Universe, then expecting and experiencing change is the norm. The difference with our current era is that for the first time we are becoming conscious of our consciousness.

This is a good thing, a healthy next step. It offers more hope than ever before, not more fear.

If I were God, and if the role of Universe was to determine if humans could evolve to a level where there was 100 percent success for all in eternally regenerative Universe, then I would probably create a confluence of such events that demanded that we transcend our “I”, our individual survival oriented small egoic self, and discover that the only way we can actually rise above the potential impending disasters, is to collaborate.

Therefore I look upon this era as an exciting time. Pandora’s box has been open for a long time now. The contagion and pestilence has been running riot for thousands of years. And the whisper of hope is calling from the depths, stronger than ever before because it now brings with it consciousness.

Enough talk about the crisis in this and that. This is fear talking. And the perpetuation of fear. We do not need any more fear, unless it serves to motivate you.

Yes we have work to do. Its good work. It learning from our mistakes and building new models that render the old obsolete. Let’s focus on the opportunity and creativity that this time brings. It asks the best from us. We all have something to contribute that is of value at this time, whether it is raising healthy, resilient children, or finding a cure for malaria.

Instead of getting sucked into the noise of fear and impending doom, let us roll up our sleeves and get to work on creating the kind of systems, structures, tools, businesses, communities, families and relationships that support the whole.

And when we are done, and have grown lazy and complacent again, as sure as the sun rises, there will be another crisis. Hallelujah. Its called evolution!

Do we live in a sufficient Universe?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

What if there is more than enough for everyone? And you not only believed it, you lived it?

In an earlier article I talked about our societal enmeshment in the scarcity principle. We are so caught up in the model of scarcity without even knowing that we are caught.

Fear of our own security and protection, and of having ‘enough’ drive most of our thinking, acting and being. The tragedy is that this fear is so ‘normal’ we do not even know we are in it.

In my life so far as I have worked to release myself from the grip of the illusion of scarcity, I have had good days and bad days.

Good days are days when I am connected to source. I feel positive, optimistic, and I see abundance.

Bad days are when I have fear running. There is not enough…money, time, love, years, sleep, time, money…did I mention those?

Last week I thought about this question…

What if there was more than enough for everyone? More than enough food, air, water, time, love, money, sleep, safety, comfort….?

This then raised the next question…is it true that there is enough?

Well, lets look at that.

Is there enough time? Yes…we get to choose how we spend our time doing what matters. The illusion of not enough time is simply an illusion. If you have 15 minutes to get ready in the morning it will take you 15 minutes. If you have an hour, it will take you an hour.

Is there enough energy? Yes…despite the propagation of fear around our energy supplies, we have more than enough energy from the sun and other renewable resources to give every person on the planet more than they will need. The gap between our technology efficiency is diminishing every day.

Is there enough money? Yes..this is a really interesting question, and in my unequivocal answer of yes I have to give a bit more detail to a quite complex issue. At one level, if you think of money as the stuff (mostly electronic) that circulates the globe every day, is there enough for every human on the planet to live well? Certainly. Some hundreds of trillions of dollars, which is so much that no one really can grasp it.  Problem is that the money gets pooled in a few places, and doesn’t really circulate. When we sit on our foot for a while and then stand up, our foot doesn’t function because the circulation has been cut off. Similarly, pooling money in a few places on the earth body doesn’t allow healthy function. We get stagnation, decay and breakdown in certain areas.

Money also gets directed to other places with questionable value, like the money spent on weapons of killingry. If this money was directed towards livingry, as Bucky would say, hunger would be solved world wide in a matter of weeks.

And if we took responsibility for out health, as I mentioned in an article last week, that would also free up huge amounts of money to be directed to other areas that are in need.

So there is no shortage of this stuff called money.

To get just a little more below the surface of this issue, if we look at what we do on a day to day basis that adds value to the world, is there enough value to be added that warrants an exchange of value? In other words, do you do work that adds real value? (Moving derivatives around the world on a computer does not add real value.) If you are working at something that adds value to others, then there is always the place for exchange.

How about food? Is there enough food? Certainly for some people in the world there is not enough food. However, that is not because there is not enough food globally, but that there is not enough food locally. Again, the system is stagnated. In parts of the world we are dying of obesity, in other parts we are dying of starvation. We criticize the Wall Street bankers for greed while the middle and lower class suffer, but are we any better? We stuff our faces with too much food while our cousins in other parts of the world die of hunger. Is this not also greed? As is stuffing our faces with food that has little to no nutritional value and becoming unhealthy. Just another form of greed.

And water, is there enough? Again, in some places water is a scarce resource. But when we finally learn to manage our resources in a respectful and healthy way, we have enough water. Bucky created homes in the 1940’s that managed on several liters of water every day for all house hold chores. Its not the lack of water that is the issue, its our carelessness in its use.

What I began to realise as I thought about this question was that there is enough. The key  is to stop thinking locally only, and to start to consider our global actions.

At a global level there is enough money, food, water, energy….we do live in a sufficient Universe. Sure we need a game change, but there is enough.

The scarcity principle is a myth of seeing ourselves as isolated, as individuals competing for. When we step back and look at the whole, starting with Universe first, we see that there is enough. That if we work together, collaborate, share, care for each other, there is more than enough.

Does this collaborative and comprehensively considerate action allow for creativity, individualism, personal success, entrepreneurialism? Is there a space for this? Yes…there is so much to learn, and explore and discover about how we inhabit our earth in a way that is sustainable for all. There are so many wonderful things we have yet to create that will enrich lives everywhere. It is time for the biggest hit of creativity innovation ever. But this doesn’t mean that I get to create and you get to go hungry.

And before you jump to conclusions, I am not talking about socialism here. I am talking about something that allows creativity, entrepreneurialism and such, but without the gluttony, and certainly without it costing others their health, money, environment and livelihood. Truly, how many cars, or houses, or TV’s , or ?? is enough for one person?

Scarcity is based on win/lose. I win, you lose. I eat, you go hungry.

Sufficiency is based on win win win. I win, you win, the family, the nation, the environment..wins.

Having considered all of these questions I decided that I do indeed live in a sufficient and abundant Universe. There is enough, more than enough.

Now the question gets down to the next level, below the scarcity and into my worthiness.  Do I allow myself to experience enoughness? No just intellectually, but in an embodied way? Am I worthy of enough?

I will keep you posted on this one. Let me just say its a big one.

In the mean time, I ask you to really consider that we do….you do…I do…live in a sufficient Universe. If this is true, and you really do believe it is true, how will you show up differently?

How would you act, think, believe and behave differently knowing that there is enough?

And what area do you feel the most lack? Love, money, time, sex, security, friends, intimacy….?

Do ask yourself of this is true…really true that there is lack in this part of your life?

Let me know your thoughts, opinions, questions, experiences..

GRUNCH of Giants- reflections on Bucky, precession and economic hit men

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Of the many great things that age brings us, one of them is the ability to reflect on the path of our life.

When I was 17 years old I read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. It was as if some new door had been opened. I was completely seduced. Remember this was back in the 70’s, when the goal of high achievers like me was simply to build empires, with little to zero regard to the cost to anything or anyone as a consequence.

To be moved from thinking Ayn Rand and her philosophy was the smartest gig in town, to being introduced to my main guy, Bucky, 10 years later. How brilliant is the Universe to be conspiring that? For many years I was caught in the trap of wanting to be an empire builder. Isn’t this how society measured your worth? How much money and stuff and status you had? Bucky challenged the world of Ayn Rand. He really pulled the rug out from under my diamond studded shoes. However, even today I still love Ayn’s independent confident women characters. (Yes, they may be ball breakers, and it has been a long while since I have read Ayn Rand, so I may still be under a spell of memory…but I do recall at the time I was inspired by these women who wrote their own rules and came out from behind the apron skirts. Those who know me well would not be surprised to hear this.)

I used to think Bucky’s writing about money, the economy, and his GRUNCH of Giants (Gross Universal Cash Heist) was a bit too conspiracy theory for me. “Bucky’s weakness” thought I.

After my many discussions with Dave Martin, and my life long quest to really understand at and embodied level the global financial system, and value, I returned to GRUNCH last week, for about the forth time. And having just read John Perkins, “Hoodwinked”, the message is the same. No, its not a conspiracy, but a system built on the insatiable desire for greed and power, at the cost of anything, by a small group of people.  The real cost, the poverty of most of the world. The loss of pristine environments. Endless debt. It is tragic.

Even more tragic is that highly educated people living in the Western world have no idea this has been going on. I am an example of exactly that tragedy. When I graduated from six years of University, and started working for myself, I did not even know that I was supposed to pay tax out of my earnings. My mother, the business woman, had to give me “the talk”. I was shocked, not because of my ignorance, but that in six years of attending University, no one even thought to mention this! Sure, I had subjects to learn about the science I was mastering in, but where was the practical class on how to manage a business and life and survive in the world? This little episode of uncovering ignorance was one of the keys that started my quest to know about how the system worked.

It is almost comic that the second key was my greed and hunger to build an empire. For it was through attending the “Money and You” program with Robert Kiyosaki back in 1986 that I was introduced to Bucky. The comedy is that I attended because I wanted to make more money. The precessional effect, (the Universe’s main effect) was that I was catapulted on a trajectory that insisted that part of my journey is to really ‘get’ what is going on with the system. While I am still in my student days, I am far less naive. (And by the way, I never did build an empire, or become insanely rich with dollars. But what I have become is ever more grateful for the most amazing life I have, and the richness I am surrounded with. And learning what is of true value. The things that matter most to me. My relationships, nature, beauty, music, life, dancing…the sun on my skin..priceless.)

In his usual inimitable way, Bucky said that the GRUNCH of giants and their very actions of raping and pillaging the worlds people and resources, has of course its own precessional effect. In other words, the side effect of their actions may be the very action that reveals all that is NOT true. This will be a good thing. Painful maybe, as people realise  that their presumed “wealth” is not really of any value.

For example some things that are not true.. there are no solids. There is no up and down in Universe. Your house price doesn’t rise. (The value of your dollar goes down.) There is no “there” that things can be thrown away to. The real cosmic costs are always decreasing. Price increases are simply a part of the game and have no relation to value…..

I am offering here the tame version of Bucky’s writing. If you really want to rock your world, get a copy of GRUNCH and take your time to read it. I am mindful that by sharing some of his more provocative thoughts without the necessary context, the field effect on you, the reader, may not be desirable. It has taken me 20 years to start to really get that he was writing truth. Am I a slow leaner? Maybe. More likely, it has taken 20 years for me to be willing to throw away all I have been told and start to look, see and check it out for myself.

What does this all mean in the long run? Well, back to precession. If the side effect of the economic hit men John Perkins writes about is that we come to our sense, finally, and wake up…this will be a good thing. I am not anti capitalism. I am anti a small few being able to get away with robbery, murder, environmental disaster, thoughtlessness, etc so they can have more power and more stuff. It is not right that I live in luxury while others starve to death. How can that ever be right?

What does this mean for me? That I keep on my quest. To learn the truth, to live the truth, to support others in their truth. And to do so with passion and integrity, and to keep doing it, every day.

It is a joyous, sometimes scary, fabulous adventure, and like that box of chocolates, I am never sure what I am going to get. Whatever that is, it is always significant. As someone wise observed, on more than one occasion, there are no small things.

There are no small things. No small actions. Its all a miracle. Amazing…this thing called life.
